after 3 hours of installing this piece of junk, i finally got it to work. I initially have ZoneAlarm Security Suite 6 (I have to uninstall this prior to installing etrust, because disabling it still won't work), and the antivirus detected approximately viruses (especially java viruses) but didn't have the option to delete them when cleaning failed. So I got a retail copy of eTrust internest security suite r1 and hope to remove them. It detects the same viruses and records, but just like ZA, it can't remove it!(btw, it seems that eTrust borrows the same TrueVector firewall technology from ZoneAlarm and ZoneAlarm borrows the same antivirus engine from eTrust. the firewall that eTrust has it's exactly the same as ZoneAlarm with a different logo).I'm a big mcafee virusscan fan (used to be a norton fan too until norton AV 2004) and the virusscan removed the same viruses from my laptop promtly. I thought i'll give etrust a try, since its supposely emancipated after rebates, but this experience has left me no choice to but to doubt its regard. in the end, i went to bitdefender emancipated online scan and it removed 9 infected records!!! even those in restore directory!! now my desktop is all clean!!! try out out the reviews on etrust and none is clear!

Got the eTrust Suite as part of a monitor wrap. Installation was fairly straightforward - no problems. User interface is pretty clunky with a lot of unnecessary clutter. Software works OK except for the firewall. I lose ability to get on to on the internet 3 to 4 times daily. Single solution I've establish is to shut down and restart the firewall (or reboot).Went online. The CA knowledge base is a joke. It's been set up by people with full knowledge of CA's product lines. No one there has given the slightest thought to setting it up so a extra customer can use it. (BTW - try to discover the release # somewhere on the eTrust software??) I finally establish a couple of articles addressing problems similar to mine and tried the fixes with no success. Finally decided to submit a tech support request. Filled made known a poisonously long form requiring everything except waist size. I patiently described the problem in detail and included everything I'd already tried to decipher it. For my trouble I expected a form email 12 hr. later with a solution that didn't work (I'd already tried it starting their knowledge base). And of course there was no way to reply to the email. Their first email was followed at once by a second one declaring CA was happy to know my problem was solved and inviting me to impart made known a tech support survey. Believe me, I did. With [...] this software ranges starting low-priced to free. At free it's subdue overpriced. I'm going to chuck eTrust and go back to ZA, AVG, AdAware and the other freebies. At smallest amount they work.Surprisingly, CA's firewall appears to be Zone Alarm Pro with a thinly disguised facelift. ZA has permanently worked great for me. It requires a lot of talent to take a good product and screw it up but CA has succeeded.

Possibly the worst software product I've experienced - which is really saying something! It hung up during the bed in numerous era, repeatedly kicked me off-line, etc. To rectify the issues, I initially tried CA's online chat-based technical support. After 45 summary of coming up, during which I repeatedly expected messages saying they'd be with me in a moment, I finally gave up. I then submitted a written and meticulous description of the issue (and the fact that the chat-based help had not worked) via email, per the instructions on CA's website. After about 5 days with no reply, I finally expected a message back from their (obviously off-shore) tech department that did not take up or acknowledge my issues at all, and instead indicated that I must use the online chat. Excuse me, but have you ever heard of a do-loop???After significant time and try on my part I finally got this piece of junk working. That's when I really learned about the limited features, lack of ability to make to diplomacy for uncommon users, etc. It's a terrible product, even when it works.I finally replaced this product with Norton Internet Security 2006, which installed well, has much better figure content, and has worked seamlessly. If you are inane to spend cash on internet security that works, buy Norton. If you want revenge on someone who has done you a terrible wrong, buy them the Computer Associates eTrust product for Christmas this year.

I purchased CA Internet Security Suite because I had a positive experience with the before manufactured goods Etrust Internet Security Suite. With installing the manufactured goods, it appears that the personal firewall was not fruitfully integrated into the toolset. I take up again to have challenges with inbound email so I had to shut that portion of the tool off, even though that is one of the base facial appearance that I was looking for.The software is also not fruitfully integrated with the K9 Web Protection parental reins software that comes with it. With setting up the K9 software, I cannot use the administer signon to view and adjust the K9 software settings. I suspect the firewall manufactured goods is again the culprit.I have tried numerous avenues to engage CA support, thru Knowledge base and email... a virtual labyrinth that will deject even the most intense user. Problem soothe exists and I receive an email request stating that my issue has been resolved and asking for an evaluation. What a joke. I am looking elsewhere.

Responding to a $29.95 upgrade offer, I downloaded and installed this product. Before downloading, I did a clean update to XP SP2 and disabled Norton Antivirus and an before version of CA Pest Patrol. I must've gotten a clue when the install couldn't handle the existing (less than a time old!) version of CA Pest Patrol. But the genuine nightmare came when I rebooted. My screen was full of CA popups. One was for network detection. When I enabled the CA firewall on the network, my computer just froze. When I rebooted, it hung during "Updating Personal Settings" when I tried to plot in! A few times I was capable to get to the desktop, but then it soon froze there. After two hours of misadventures and many, many reboots I was finally capable to remove the CA software in safe mode. After that my system was fine. I don't mind wasting $30. I'm just happy to have my computer back and will avoid CA products from now on. This was my worst software install experience in many being. If you must install it, do yourself a favor and create a Windows recovery point first.

I got CA etrust emancipated when I became a Roadrunner Customer. Until Time Warner took over Adelphia I was an Adelphia customer and used Freedom Security Suite provided by Adelphia. Freedom was not perfect but it found approximately spywares and viruses no other spyware or virus program found. And Freedom didn't conflict with my other programs.I loaded CA etrust Security Suite after reading the directions and a clean reinstall of Windows and MS personnel 2003. Their were no other Virus or Spyware programs on my computer (an AMD 64 Bit) My computer froze up immediately. I rebooted many times but no cigar. I had to use Window's safety mode to uninstall the program. I thought that the problem might just be one of the programs in the suite, so I backed up my install and set another restore point and tried installing the CA etrust programs one at a time and in different combos. Only one of the programs didn't cause my computer to freeze or crash, and I could no longer uninstall from Window's safe mode. Thank God for setting up the restore point or I would have had to initiation from stratch again (ie. I would have had to reformat my c drive). Thank you so much Computer Associates, Time Warner/Roadrunner.

This suite of harvest and the support offered are pathetic. I have washed-out countless hours installing and uninstalling etrust to correct one conundrum or another. As you click on 'help' you get sent to their internet 'on line store' instead of the traditionalhelp by topic/keyword that is used by every other software producer. It is basically just that, a store for promotion their harvest and, oh by the road, you can click an item for support or what CA considers support. The in rank available is incomplete, incorrect and you constantly get sent in trade to a page you already viewed. Their information base is a non-information base.I spoke to an alleged support person for what seemed be fond of hours and all he did was send me in trade to the on-line store web locate. After I irrevocably got the manipulate to one of my problems starting him I not compulsory that the manipulate be included in the information base (which it should have been) he did not think that was a good idea!!!On my latest conundrum, which is in the new superior translation, a function that worked before is not functioning at all. I got an email starting support on how to manipulate it (the manipulate did not bring about). Then, lacking being asked, I immediately received an email stating that the conundrum has been solved and they are dying my case file! CA is off of my list for good.

I've been fortunate including the AV in this suite, keep pro the firewall has been a nightmare to bed in, or must I display not get on to the grade to bed in, as I be inflicted including not been competent to get on to it to bed in. I had been by the emancipated translation zone timer touchtone phone logic, keep pro currently including the intention of will no lnger bring about or re-bed in any including the disastrous bed in of the ca firewall. What a fix.....
