Teri Polo, 'Fockers' Star, Says She's Broke, Files For Bankruptcy Owing IRS $745k

Teri Polo, best known as Ben Stillers fiance and then wife in all three Fockers movies and who now stars in the ABC Family series The Fosters would seem to have it all. But apparently, most of what she has, she owes to the Internal Revenue Service, as well as other creditors including a former landlord and her credit card companies.

The 44-year-old actress filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on April 14. The filings were uncovered and reported Tuesday.

As Pam Focker, Teri Polo played opposite Stiller as well as Robert DeNiro, Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand in the hit comedy trilogy that began in 2000 with Meet The Parents, then continued in 2004 with the sequel Meet The Fockers. The series wound up, at least for now, in 2010 with the third installment, Little Fockers.

The three Fockers films averaged almost $200 million each at the box office.

Teri Polo has also appeared on numerous TV shows. She had a recurring role on The West Wing for two seasons and has guest-starred on many other popular shows. She is the mother of two children and in 2002 was ranked Number 42 on Maxim Magazines 100 Hot Women list.

But now Teri Polo says, in court filings, that she is worth less than $50,000, but is carrying a debt load of close to $1 million. And as a result Polo, who once posed nude for Playboy Magazine, has gone belly-up.

The vast majority of her debt, according to the court filings, comes in back taxes owed to the federal government. Somehow, Teri Polo is $745,000 in arrears to the IRS. She also owes about $26,000 to the state of California in unpaid taxes.

The former Focker has also run up her credit cards, owing almost 30 grand to American Express and another $7,000, approximately, to a Chase Bank credit card.

A rep for Teri Polo did not respond to media inquiries.

Polo is also battling a well-known Hollywood entertainment lawyer, Edwin McPherson, who was her landlord on a $7,000 per month rental apartment but says Teri Polo owes him $30,000 for damages caused her her dog which left feces and urine all over the premises. He also alleges that she left food in a refrigerator that was turned off, causing the food to rot and creating a sickening, rancid smell throughout the apartment.

McPherson filed a lawsuit against Teri Polo earlier this year.

The news was shared via Twitter by his son Craig Sager Jr.

"My Dad's 3-4-week acute leukemia treatment starts tmrw," Sager Jr. tweeted on Thursday night. "Be thinking of him & let's get him back on the sidelines soon."

Sager, a graduate of Northwestern University, has been a fixture on TNT as a key piece of the network's NBA coverage. He's been part of the "NBA on TNT" for 17 seasons.

When I bought my Tungsten I bought version 5.0 Premium because of the rebate and it's better than always. They did a nice job including the word processor and added some other good (less used) features. I use this everyday and would be lost without it, I highlyrecommended it. It's a little pricey but the old saying is real, you get what you pay for.

Skywatchers will be up in the wee hours Tuesday to view a "blood moon" a total lunar eclipse that also happens to be the first of four consecutive total lunar eclipses set to occur through next year.

The phenomenon is called a "tetrad" of lunar eclipses and, while not unique, does stand out this time in one regard.

According to NASA eclipse expert Fred Espenak, "The most unusual thing about the 2014-2015 tetrad is that all of them are visible for all or parts of the USA."

Here in Hampton Roads, look toward the southwest horizon beginning around 2 a.m., said Robert Vold, professor of applied sciences at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg and director of its Thomas Harriot Observatory.

The moon should appear close to the planet Mars, which is also shining especially bright right now as it undergoes what's called "opposition," when it and the sun align on opposite sides of Earth.

Around 3 a.m., NASA says, the lunar eclipse "totality" will occur during a 78-minute interval.

"If it's a clear night, I might just try to go up and take a picture of it," said Vold. "It won't be totally invisible. It'll still be shining faintly in a kind of reddish, ugly-looking light."

That reddish light is what gives a blood moon its name.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is positioned directly between the sun and the moon. From the moon's vantage point, NASA says, the Earth is rimmed with a fiery light that beams into Earth's shadow and in turn gives the moon an amber glow.

The moon's plane of orbit is a bit tilted, Vold said, which is why a total eclipse doesn't happen every month.

A total lunar eclipse isn't just a pretty sight for skywatchers. Vold said professional astronomers with high-powered telescopes can gather important data about the elemental composition of stars just as they vanish on the edge of the moon.

And tetrads aren't rare except when they are.

This century, for instance, NASA says to expect nine of them. One tetrad already occurred in 2003-2004.

Meanwhile, according to Espenak, in the 300-year interval from 1600 to 1900 there were no tetrads at all.

Vold says he knows of no plans among local amateur or professional astronomers to gather for a glimpse of Tuesday's blood moon.

The matter may be moot: Weather forecasts for the area call for mostly cloudy skies through Monday and rain into Tuesday.

Mike Rusnak, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Wakefield, said overcast conditions in Hampton Roads might make it difficult to see.

"(It's) not completely out of the question," he said, "(but there's a) very low chance of it being visible."

The next three total lunar eclipses are calculated to occur on Oct. 8 this year, then on April 4 and Sept. 28 next year.

On Tuesday, just one day removed from the men's national championship win over Kentucky, the women rolled by Notre Dame to clinch their second straight NCAA title and record-setting ninth overall. Led by 21 points from Breanna Stewart -- the Final Four's Most Outstanding Player -- and a strong team defensive effort, the Huskies trounced the Irish 79-58 to complete their perfect season at 40-0 and end the painstaking 24-hour title drought in Storrs.

The wins for both basketball programs marks just the second time in Division I history the feat has been achieved, joining the 2004 Husky squads in the record books.

Coach Geno Auriemma, often known for his sarcasm and brash sense of humor, was clearly overcome with emotion after the victory. So much so, he cried during his postgame interview with ESPN's Holly Rowe. Yes, you read that correctly.

Even Notre Dame coach Muffet McGraw can't hate on that. On second thought, she probably can. But likely won't do it in public.

Ray Allen multitasking

UConn legend and Miami Heat star Ray Allen was in, ahem, "North Texas" on Monday night to watch his beloved former team win the national title, but he was unable to go to Nashville on Tuesday due to some NBA game he was contractually obligated to participate in. But he didn't let playing against the Brooklyn Nets stop him from following along with the NCAA title game.

The Heat lost by one point after LeBron James' dunk was denied in the final seconds, so hopefully someone cheered Allen up with the news of UConn's win immediately after the game. With his alma mater winning two national titles in 24 hours, I think he's probably doing just fine right about now.

Sign of the times in Storrs

After the destruction on the UConn campus in Storrs on Monday following the men's win, it remained to be seen if there would be anything left for the students to destroy during the Tuesday night celebration. But alas, that's why these resourceful students got accepted into an institution of higher learning. Determined to wreak even more havoc, the students flocked to the streets for the second straight night. You know, because turn down for what and all.

I mean, can you really blame the students? After all the spots secured in the record books by the basketball teams, clearly they just wanted to cement the record for "most arrests on campus in a two-day span." Still awaiting official confirmation from the Guinness Book folks.

Foxboro Fire Capt. Ed Noonan told The Sun Chronicle today that the fire startedabout 7:15 p.m., Saturday from a cigarette butt that a smoker had accidentallydiscarded into mulch in the rear of the building. No one was injured in the blaze.

"It was determined that the fire was an accident due to careless disposal of fire materials," Noonan said. "We don't know who the smoker isat this time."

He said because the incident was an accident, theperson who discarded the cigarette into the mulch will most likely not be charged with a crime, "but they should have practiced common sense."

Noonan said thatwithin 20minutes, the fire had spread rapidly into the walls and ceiling of the building because of winds coming off of the lake.

"By the time we arrived on scene, the fire had gotten significant headway, and there was no turning back at that point," Noonan said.

But, becauseof the extent of the fire, crews worked through the night into Sunday morning, before excavation crews went through the rubble to look for hidden fires, according to DeputyFire CaptainSteven Bagley.

The Lakeview Pavilion was a 108-year-old, one and a half-story wooden structure.

The building did not have a sprinkler system, but did have a fire alarm system, and was in compliance with all fire codes at the time of the accident.

Bagley praised the venue's personnel for getting the 110 wedding guests safely outinto the parking lot before firefighters arrived.

Kirt Kershaw seems to know ACCESS quite well, yet he talks way too fast and is trying to rush through, it seems to me. There are no practice files built within the DVD sent so you have to make your own which is unfortunate as you can make the same mistakes without correction.I would say, he needs to slow down somewhat and build practice files that the addict can use along including the instructor. I have always found that the best way to really embed the application into your brain.Sorry, but didn't like.Look around for software that has instructor-lead practice files. Mike Smart did a good one for Excel 2007, for example.

I have well documented our nightmares with GoldMine 5.5 in my review for that product. After I was promised great things by Frontrange customer support, I expected a full-featured demo CD of GoldMine 5.7 to try. Regretfully, none of the functionality and stability issues have been addressed in the extra translation. I have mentioned the following points in my review of GoldMine 5.5 and I repeat them here because the problems STILL remain!!!1. It does not want to initiation up because it cannot discover the "ticket.dbf" gather in a line! You have to hit browse and point it to the directory where GoldMine is installed. I through copious calls to their tech support and they admitted they didn't have any clue as to what could be causing this! They suggested some changes including reinstalling and flush installing GoldMine twice which really messed up my registry keys. And this happens with ALL our users!2. It DOES NOT work with MS Personnel 2000 or XP/2002!! It is the most bogus claim. Allow me to elaborate: The link with MS Speech is shaky at preeminent. And that is when it gets past Norton Antivirus. For some reason, the macro that their GMLINK.DOT gather in a line uses is detected as a virus by almost any antivirus software. Flush when I get on to it working by including it in the exception catalog, it crashes MS Personnel. What a nightmare this product is. I can't believe Sage released this. If I could give it negative 5 stars I would. DO NOT BUY THIS!! My computer runs slower than it did including 6.0. When we converted the facts from 6.0 (on it's own, this is a special brand of hell), it didn't bring over in cooperation phone numbers for contacts!!! THIS IS A CONTACT DATABASE! YOU NEED YOUR CONTACT PHONE NUMBERS! Getting the database set up on our ma?tre d'h?tel took hours and hours of time on the phone including the tech helpline. Even they had trouble.In 6.0, you could cut and paste items into the history and notes tab and then edit them. When you paste into the tabs now, it's treated as a picture and can't be edited. 2007 didn't convert over our print templates and we had to build them by hand. NIGHTMARE!DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
